I’m spiffing up some older stories…foundational myths, if you will…from my Lonhra Sequence space-fantasy universe.
One of the fun/infuriating things about hobby-crafting a universe for nearly 40 years, are all the small stories that make up those secondary worlds and their histories. Side-characters and historical footnotes who would very much like to tell *their side* of the story, thank you very much.
Sometimes it’s less like writing fantasy novels than shoving a microphone and a stopwatch at characters and telling them: “Your turn. Two minutes. Whattayagot for me?”
So expect some short stories to end up online over the next few months. ‘Saints and Heroes’ is a rewritten and expanded version of the story published in 2012, in the Cleis Press anthology ‘Thrones of Desire’.
Here’s the new cover.
Here’s the new blurb:
Reluctant dom and peaceful priest Borsa Eld has avoided destiny too long; now innocent people suffer because he ran away from an arranged marriage to the most dangerous man on the planet. Setting things to rights will be worse work than he dreamed, but a Hero’s job comes with its own rewards.
As soon as Draft2Digital is finished with its magic, I’ll post the universal buy links here and in the Fiction section of this website.
I look forward to reading about the handsome and very grounded Borsa Eld again.
Every time I look in on him, I’m struck by how calm & collected Borsa is. Then I remember he’s at least a quarter Sonnaroi, and it makes sense.
