Lynx Engineer Hat

This one’s a gift to a writer friend of mine, to honor two of his passions. There will be another post plugging his writing once it comes out from his new publisher.

The platform for Lynx Engineer is a Hurley hat from 2006, in black cotton with silk-screened white stripes.

The ears are made from cotton buckram, pinstriped black cotton from a salvaged dress shirt, black-gray shadow striped denim, and white linen with black stripes.

The white linen inside the ears has been frayed to mimic white tufts, while the iconic ear-points are made from frayed denim.

I kept this as minimal as possible, leaving the red Hurley logo intact, and offering plenty of room for pins and patches.

So if you see this hat at a writers’ or media convention in the upper Midwest, the wearer is a very cool guy with some great stories to tell.
