Okay, I’m going to be really evil, and gloat about a story that none of you will probably ever be able to read.
Neither the author nor I are daft enough to release it in the wild. Not yet. As far as I know, it is the very first piece of fanfiction set in one of my universes.
She meant it as personal therapy for herself, and a holiday gift to me. She has been a fan of my original and fan writing for over a decade, a keen-eyed beta reader and a strong critic not afraid to tell me when I’m being an idiot.
Her story is lovely. Like all good fanfiction pieces, it takes some information I set out and expands on it, in a unique way I never really thought about before.
Now, of course I shouldn’t give any hint of actually endorsing it in my work, or some other people might beat me around the head and shoulders. Wisely, too, as a couple of past collaborations have resulted in the ashes of my then-universe crumbling down around me.
But in my heart, her story is now unofficial canon in the Lonhra Sequence.
Sniffle

I’ve often thought that fanfic is the highest compliment that can be paid to an author. Good show <3
Thanks. I’m stoked.
